THE ROTARY FOUR-WAY TEST

1. Is it the truth?
2. Is it fair to all concerned?
3. Will it build goodwill and better friendships?
4. Will it be beneficial to all concerned?

We hope to strengthen our presence in the community by taking advantage of technology, namely the internet. It is our intention to make the community which we serve aware of our deeds & allow interested people to contribute where possible.

We will be updating the website regularly with information on our club’s activities as well as the trend of Rotary Africa & Rotary International. We can be contacted for any queries or new projects (see contact page) & welcome feedback on our work.

WHAT IS ROTARY?

Rotary is a world FELLOWSHIP of business and professional executives who accept the “Ideal of Service” as the basis for success and happiness in business and community life. In Rotary THOUGHTFULNESS OF OTHERS is regarded as the basis of service and HELPFULNESS TO OTHERS as its expression.

Rotary seeks all that which brings people together and it avoids all which separates them.

Rotary does not seek to support or interfere with any religious or political organisations. It assumes that its concepts are in accord with all religions and it does not concern itself with a Rotarian’s politics. Furthermore, it does not endeavour to carry out the civic activities which belong to other organisations, but every Rotarian is urged to participate in the activities which make his or her community a better place in which to live. However, Rotary frequently develops or sparks suitable agencies to take care of community needs when no such agency exists.

Rotary’s membership plan is unique. It tries to make the Rotary Club a true cross-section of the community’s interest and activities; its membership is therefore selected on the basis of one active member from each recognised business or profession in the community.

Rotary also differs from other organisations in that the establishment of a Rotary Club links its community to a World-encircling chain of cities and town where other people have organised Rotary Clubs, following the same ideals Rotary stands for the application of higher standards in business and professional life; for understanding, goodwill and peace among the people of the world.

THE OBJECT OF ROTARY

The object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise, and in particular to encourage and foster:

First: The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service.

Second: High ethical standards in business and professions; the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations; and the dignifying by each Rotarian of his or her occupation as an opportunity to serve society;

Third: The application of the ideal of service by every Rotarian to his or her personal, business and community life;

Fourth: The advancement of international understanding, goodwill and peace, through a world FELLOWship of business and professional people united in the ideal of service.
